SOURCE
SOURCE from Coping Systems is a clinic-specific EMR designed especially for patients needing repeat treatments. Example applications are in cancer treatment and IVF (In Vitro Fertilization - see Figure 1).
SOURCE can present 300 or more data points on one screen, so that the clinician can see all the pertinent patient information at one glance. As a result the clinician can make decisions quickly and accurately about the next course of treatment.
SOURCE focuses on accuracy of data entry and treatment by providing alerts, gates, and rules, preventing the clinician from entering incorrect information or making uninformed decisions. All data entry is retained in an audit trail so that a history of decisions can be re-created. In addition, significant data points, such as drug protocols, require an MD signature and are highlighted appropriately to let users know if the MD has approved the order.

SOURCE’s alerts can be presented as:
- Colored cells with pop-up comments conveniently located where the data is entered and examined
- Daily emails to the appropriate clinician noting any potential problem
- Table displays which clinicians can access to view the alerts associated with their patients
SOURCE will integrate with hospital information systems to acquire patient demographic information, receive lab information, and send procedure information necessary for accurate billing.
SOURCE is also a data repository for sending observed data to DELTA (Coping Systems’ analysis product), allowing clinicians and administrators to determine if observed outcomes are within expectations or are potentially affecting patient safety.
